Reimers Ranch

The Reimers Ranch was acquired in 2005 through the combination of contiguous parcels aggregating approximately 2,400 acres in southwest Travis County, Texas. This property lies along an environmentally sensitive stretch of the Pedernales River, an historic tributary of the Colorado River providing the principal source of water to the state capital of Austin, Texas. Freshwater flows from Pogue Springs and Hogge Canyon Springs emerge from limestone bluffs, creating cypress lined canyons that protect valuable biodiversity in an otherwise arid landscape.

Through an innovative public financing process, this property has been acquired by Travis County as it newest public park, the Milton Reimers Ranch Park, featuring fishing, kayaking, world-class rock climbing and over eighteen miles of single-track mountain biking trails. The Reimers Ranch transaction, representing the largest, most complex parkland acquisition in the history of Travis County, now provides local citizens with an accessible means of experiencing the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country.
