Hazy Hills Ranch
The Hazy Hills Ranch, acquired in 2004, comprised approximately 1,400 acres in Hays County, Texas. Development of the property included a 1,000 conservation preserve covering the confluence of Barton Creek and Little Barton Creek, vital sources of water for the Barton Springs recreational area of historical importance to citizens of Austin and Travis County, Texas.
The remaining open area is being developed by national homebuilder,
D. R. Horton, Inc., in an environmentally responsible residential property called "The Headwaters". The Hazy Hills Ranch project provides an excellent example of cooperation with a private sector developer to finance valuable protected open space while ensuring conscientious conservation-oriented development.
